Like so many others, I came to the Florida Keys on vacation and decided never to leave. I made the Keys my home more than 30 years ago.
I learned to navigate the shallow waters surrounding the out islands here in the Lower Keys as a backcountry charter guide, taking clients to do what I love: fishing, snorkeling, out island beach hopping, spearfishing, or just cruising through the mangrove islands looking for dolphins, turtles, rays, and sharks. I maintain my USCG 50 Ton Master Captain's License still today.
I also owned and operated a successful marine service business in Key West for over 12 years, built on a reputation for being honest, reliable, highly skilled, and extremely efficient. Qualities that carried over to my career in real estate.
I was fortunate to work with a developer and be part of several projects here in the Lower Keys at different intervals from planning to construction, giving me insight into the entire development process.
Since immersing myself in a career in real estate, I have received the Rookie of the Year Award, in my first year, from all of the Brokerages in the Lower Florida Keys, as well as maintained Top Producer Status every year since receiving my license. I immediately got involved with local charitable foundations to give back to our community, which I feel is extremely important. I also in 2018 became a Director on our Board for the Marathon and Lower Keys Association of REALTORS® to help in any way possible to improve the level of service in our real estate industry as a whole. I then acted as the Association's Secretary in 2020, Treasurer in 2021, President-Elect in 2022, and President of MLKAR in 2023.
During my tenure as President of the Marathon and Lower Keys Association of REALTORS®, one of my primary initiatives was to strengthen the knowledge and professional skills of real estate agents throughout our region through enhanced and innovative educational opportunities.
I organized and hosted monthly educational seminars, bringing together both local and national representatives from agencies such as the Army Corps of Engineers, Monroe County, the Department of Environmental Protection, and the Department of Transportation. These sessions provided valuable insight into upcoming projects, regulatory changes affecting homeowners, and evolving policies that impact buyers, sellers, and real estate transactions in the Florida Keys.
In addition, many seminars featured local industry professionals, including lenders, appraisers, home inspectors, attorneys, top-producing agents, and rental companies. These collaborative discussions addressed common challenges that arise during transactions and offered practical strategies to help prevent deals from falling apart.
These programs not only helped agents better navigate complex transactions but also provided important information that enables homeowners to understand changes affecting their property rights and regulatory environment.
My goal throughout this initiative was to raise the overall knowledge base of our local real estate professionals, foster stronger relationships with government agencies and industry partners, and ensure that our members are better equipped to serve the public with professionalism, accuracy, and confidence. By encouraging ongoing education and collaboration, we strengthened our industry and improved the quality of service provided to buyers and sellers in our community.
As a USCG Master Captain with extensive knowledge of the waters and navigation of the Lower Florida Keys, combined with over 30 years of living, working, and building strong local relationships here, I bring a unique perspective to real estate. My commitment as a hardworking, service-oriented professional allows me to expertly guide clients through every aspect of their real estate sales and service needs.
